My approach to the piece was to examine the photos taken by the Budapest “KIOSZK” group of their work and extract visual artefacts, then turn these elements into a visual score. This score was used as a non-linear guide for improvisation of sound piece which I have called “Chance Movements”. The piece consists of treated guitar and heavily processed ambient recordings of London. In the case of the guitar, the visual score was used as a guide for chord shapes, hand movements, and so on. For the ambient sounds, the visual score was used as a guide to dictate effects and processing. For example, a circular image on the visual score could lead to a button being turned to increase a reverb effect, or other modulations.
